Vestige of summer, and brightest of autumn’s early colors,
a yellowing ash tree in the sun yet unleaves its burning tongues
to winds that whisper a nearing winter and fallen moments gone.

Great photos. Green and yellow predominating, and then suddenly a riot of colors- then it’s all over suddenly. That’s the pattern here in Ohio 🙂

Suddenly, yes, and, I’d say, too soon.. The local tree-rimmed reservoir seems just past riotous peak here, but there’s still lots of green along Little Crum Creek: maples, hawthorns, mulberries, others … the ash tree pictured here went bare a couple days ago.

Interesting, the leaves here, that changed first, all turned yellow. They are beautiful and bright yellow, but our red and orange leaves are lagging behind… These were lovely photos! 🙂

Sounds like the pattern here. In addition to yellow, brown and green are coming down in the rain. But other colors are catching up, especially these past few days. I like to seem them hang on awhile.

Simple and yet such beautiful writing Scott. In my hour ride each way everyday to work along the lonely Rt 301 corridor, I am enjoying the start of the ‘popping’ of autumn colors along the way. The cool air on the damp leaves from yesterday’s rains made them glow all the more this morning. Thanks for sharing!

And thank you. Spring and fall can inspire such vigilance, don’t you think? Hour to hour, it seems, so much can visibly change. And it can all be so easily missed. But it sounds like you have a great opportunity on your daily trips. Hope the trees “pop” brilliantly for your drive.
