Wonderful images, both visual and textual!

Thanks … with subjects like this, it’s hard to go wrong!

Nice photos. We were blessed to see one White-crowned at a bird blind some weeks ago. It was nice knowing a few are still in Iowa. The only time we had one in the yard was this last spring. I am hoping it will tell its friends. 🙂 When we first started seeing Harris’s or White-crowned, it would be just one, but then following years would find more feeding in our yard.
Aren’t new cameras fun? My Canon did not come with the full sized user guide, only the start up, so I’ve had to do a lot of fiddling and still have no idea of all the settings. Our computer is slow, so I don’t like waiting for the PDFs from their CD to load. I’d rather have a good old fashioned paper manual.
Birds are interesting to photograph. I can get the body nice and clear, but yet have a blurry bill or tail. And flight pictures, don’t get me started…. 🙂

Yes, the new camera is fun. There’s a lot to learn, but fortunately it’s simple enough, for now, to just point at things and … click!
I don’t think I’ve seen any white-crowned sparrows. Of course, they could be mixed up with the other sparrows. I’ll have to keep an eye out.

Beautiful. Sparrows are my favourites, tiny, cute and busy

So tiny & busy that I sometimes can’t tell what kind of sparrow until I zoom in on the photos I’ve shot. Here the yellow eyebrow jumped out.

It looks like a well fed sparrow.

No birds going hungry in the yards lining Little Crum Creek, for sure.

Love the poetry. Aren’t the birds just beautiful?
January 24, 2012 at 9:27 pm
Yep. They certainly dress up the winter.

Aren’t these guys funny when they “ice skate” ? 🙂
January 24, 2012 at 9:31 pm
Almost as funny as the “sledding crow” recently in the news. Did you see that? YouTube has it.

The seeds in his mouth……great shots!

Those little details that I hadn’t noticed when shooting the pictures … they’re fun to discover later.

Also love these shots, Scott. In my mind’s eye I already have prints of these photos mounted and framed ♥.

That would be neat, a natural kind of vertical triptych.

So sweet and delicate looking… love these shots. Birds can be so hard to photograph. 🙂

These are the first photos I’ve posted since fiddling with a new camera. Hopefully, with modestly more zoom & megapixels, I’ll be able to represent the birds & bugs & stuff that have eluded me. You’re right, some of these birds can be hard to photograph (yes, nuthatch, chickadee, and wren, that means you).

Absolutely adorable!

Yeah, they’re good to see.
