Here a Paraphidippus aurantius, traversing a fence from post to post,
appears a bit flummoxed to meet me leaning upon the rail.
Mutually improvising our turns and impressions, I was finally pleased
to observe the jumping spider continue undeterred along its way.

Probably my biggest phobia, but you gave this fella some character and beauty…..more than I could! 😉

Thanks, Donna … let’s hope beauty will diminish our fear! I’m finding a stunning variety of it (beauty) in the spider world.

I’ve got quite a few photos of bugs that I can’t identify, even though I bought a bug guide. Spiders seem easier somehow, especially when you have good photos like these to go by.

Thanks to their popularity, I can usually ID spiders by browsing pictures online. But I too have a bunch of anonymous bugs waiting in my photo folders. The best is accidentally coming across the ID for one when searching for something else.

Ha! It was small, less than 1/2″. And fairly cordial, if a bit evasive.
